Lush commissioned us in 2009 to build a 3rd version of their ecommerce website. The brief was quite prescriptive: use a commonly available, open source content management and ecommerce platforms to re-implement our website.
All articles about the business, the ingredients they use in their products and their marketing campaigns had to be user-editable. All product and pricing information needed to come from their stock management system (MNP). A custom payment gateway was needed as they wanted to use the same provider processor as their EPOS network. All sales information from the website needed to feed back into their stock control and accounting systems.
We implemented the site over a period of 6 months, working with Lush’s internal design team and also mentoring a junior web programmer. Before going live, the site was thoroughly penetration tested – getting a clean audit from one of the country’s top security testing agencies. The site was replaced by a 4th version in 2011, using much of the ground-work created by the previous website.
